The Political Ecology Society (PESO) has as its object the promotion of
interdisciplinary scientific investigation of the political and economic principles
controlling the relations of human beings to one another and to the environment. As part
of its efforts to meet these goals, PESO supports the publication of the Journal of
Political Ecology, a peer reviewed electronic journal that publishes articles and reviews
in English, French, and Spanish. As well as the PESO Annual
Meeting, the society organizes sessions at professional meetings, and sponsors an
electronic public forum on its Internet site. PESO's Public Forum
is a clearing house for information and news focusing on interactions between political
economy and ecology around the world which provides a platform for open discussions on
trends and topics of controversy, and serves as a vehicle for news, annotated
bibliographies, requests for research proposals, employment opportunities, and other items
germane to political ecology. The Political Ecology Society (PESO) also awards "The Robert McC. Netting Prize of $500 for the best article
published in the Journal of Political Ecology."
