JPE is a peer reviewed
journal (ISSN:
1073-0451) , one of the
longest standing, open access, online journals in the social sciences. It began in 1994 and welcomes
submissions in English, French and Spanish from a broad range of disciplines and hopes
to encourage research into the linkages between political economy and human
environmental impacts. It is provided free online and supported by the
Political Ecology Society (PESO). An early statement of the founding editors'
perspectives on the field of political ecology can be read
here.
JPE is
produced at the
Bureau of Applied Research in Anthropology, University of Arizona, and is available through, as
well as archived at, the University
of Arizona Library, Tucson, Arizona,
USA. Paper
reprints are available at all times but JPE's copyright notice also allows
multiple copies of articles or reviews to be printed, but not sold, for
educational purposes without requesting authorization. Requests for
incorporation into books for sale should pass to the Editors.
Please see our
copyright
notice and author guidelines and contact the Editors about submissions: James Greenberg (USA -- speaks English and Spanish) for the
Americas
and Simon Batterbury (Australia/UK -- speaks English and French) or Thomas K. Park (USA -- speaks English, French and Arabic)
for submissions dealing with other parts of the globe. Articles are double-refereed, which can
take up to 3 months. Publication is generally free of charge, although donations - and assistance
with the final editing process for accepted manuscripts -- are appreciated, since we have no
recurring budget.
JPE
is listed on Ulrichsweb, and also available via OpenJ-Gate
, EBSCOhost EJS , and the Elektronische Zeitschriftenbibliothek . It is
is recognized by the Australian government as a peer-reviewed publication of international
standing. A citation analysis of JPE articles can be prepared using
PublishorPerish , and shows that citations
compare favorably with similar journals like Capitalism, Nature, Socialism, Ecology and Society,
and Human Organization.
